My blaster is making sort of a ringing/slapping noise and I thought it was a piston slap, but I just did a compression test on it and it reads 135 psi. Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Clutch? Bottom end?

I just bought the thing and it runs real good, 1st kick in -10 degrees but like I said its making a noise that I don't think should be there.

Thanks!

you could have lost the skirt on the piston and wouldnt necessarly mean you lose compression if the rings are still intact

i think that would be more of a clunk than a ping lol never know though lol

Trust me I blew mine at Busco's rings were fine and it still started but sounded like sh*t and still had power .....before I did anymore damage I took the topend off and sure enough my Wossener lost her skirt:eek:

I can't get the vids to upload on here I will put them on youtube and post the links.

i'm not 100% sure on that one. gonna have to take some things apart. i would start looking through the exhaust port and intake port at the piston. then i would pull the clutch cover if the piston and cylinder look fine. check out your clutch and idler gear for loose or broken pieces.

Well when I bought the thing there was no exhaust gasket on the bike so when I took the pipe off I looked in the exhaust port and the piston looked fine, no scuffs or anything but when I pushed on it I could feel a bit of play in there.... not sure how much play I should be feeling.

I haven't looked at the intake side yet, I might have to do that tomorrow. Like I said in my last post, when I pushed on the piston I could feel a little bit of play in there.

Well I very well could be hahah im really not sure, I haven't heard another one running in person before but my brother has an RM85 and I know it doesn't make any sounds like that......

That's because rm is watercooled, Blaster is air cooled. All those fins ar like tuning forks, they're going to ring and sing to you. Double check that you have all the rubber plugs between fins.
What's funny is I listened to the vid, and I wasn't 100% sure because my hearing is kinda jacked.
