Champaign, il
today I made a 4" extended swingarm using steel square stock
I cut the swing between the shock and the Carriage.
I used a YFZ 450 shock in the stock mounting tabs, all I did was use 2 washers for the top and at the bottom I drilled out the yfz shock and ran the stock pin and cotter key thru the stock location. Since the swing is 4" further back I didnt have to change anything else I will write up more in detail if people want. I will post pics and let me know what you think. I put it together and ran it today and tried to abuse the welds by doing donuts, jumps, hill climbs and attempting wheelies. but the welds have held great and the shock feels amazing!

Got any pics? I'm planning on fitting a yfz rear also. But my lower shock mount is in the stock location so I'll be shortening the shock as much as possible.

Your rear shock mount on a extended swinger should be in the stock location.

Heres some pics of mine:

agreed, it should be, putting the shock at a different angle is going to do all sorts to the suspension geometry, im my mind there is a risk of bending the shock rod instead of compressing if its lying too flat, not to mention the travel which is surely compromised.
