Exhaust studs

I'm rebuilding a blaster and I ordered two new exhaust studs. One end is a little longer then the other end. Which end goes into the motor? The longer side or the shorter side?

I've looked online and in manuals and I can't find an answer. Thanks in advance for the help.

Presume you already pulled the old ? Measure depth of hole, threads will be longer than hole is deep.
If I remember when I go out to the garage I'll measure what sticks out of the cylinder.

The side with the rounded nose goes on the outside.
