Notheast,OH
Just got a 01 blaster. Finally got it to run right except now when I put the quad in gear it will leap foward a few inches then the engine will bog out and die while I still have the clutch in. If I give it about half throttle and dump the clutch it will run great until the rpms come down then it will die. Also to get it started, whether it's hot or cold, the choke has to be engaged. is this normal. sorry i'm new to 2 strokes.

ok. Cleaned out the entire carb. Pilot jet was dirty. Fixed the clutch issue, had to replace the cable, now it will start up and idle but it's real lazy in the low rpm range, it bogs and stumbles but then takes off like a rocket. One jet is a 155 and the other is a 52. The engine is bored .40 with a fmf gold pipe. keihin 33 carb, reed spacer and I believe the reeds are boyeson(spelling?). Any suggestions? when I adjust the air/fuel screw it doesn't seem to change at all.

do you have any port work done? airbox lid off? i think that carb might be to big if you dont

Ok. Air box lid is off. The motor is not ported. I had to order a new pilot jet. Should be here weds. I got a 45 and 48 to try. Will let you guys know. Thanks!!!!!!!

Ok. Jets came a day early. Tried a 48 first and then 45. Didn't make a difference. There is a small amount of gas coming out of the back side of the carb when it's running. If I try to put the airbox on it wont run at all. Take it off and just put a filter on the back side of the carb and it will run but still bogs real bad on the bottom end. Runs great at 1/4 throttle and above.

I would check your float and setting. When floats get real old, they tend to start soaking up gas making them heavier . When they do that, they sink lower in the fuel and don't close the needle all the way.

how do you adjust the floats? I started with the air screw 1 1/2 turns out. While it was runinng I changed it a 1/2 turn at time rich and lean and it made no difference. The carb was just rebuilt and it's suppose to have new floats. But I will check them out.
