Hello I have a 2002 Yamaha Blaster. On Sunday I took my bike out and got onto it to start it and it wouldn't fire. Before this point it was firing first kick. After many kicks I finally got it started but it was loosing power and then after about 5-10 min of riding it stalled. I went home took the carb out and looked at it and there was no obvious signs of it being dirty. Then I changed the spark plug and also checked the air filter and it was clean also. I tried it to fire it up and still will not start. I am hesitant of taking it to the professionals so can anyone help Me?

You can't really just look at a carb to find if its dirty. The smallest of particles can give it problems. Probably best to clean it out completely in detail if its been sitting for a while. make sure all those jets are completely clear and free of obstructions.

Before even doing that, I would say its a good idea to take that plug out and ground it to the quad to check if its got a good healthy spark. If it does, a compression test would be a good check. Bad compression can make it hard to start and not run for long. When I first got mine, the guy said he got it to start and run for like 10 minutes then turned it off and never started again. I found that he had the head gasket upside-down leaking like crazy and the cylinder was gouged real bad. I couldn't even check the compression because it leaked as fast as I could kick but somehow he said it ran for 10 minutes.

have you checked the reeds for cracked/chipped/broken petals ?
you can look into intake with a flashlight with carb removed to at least ensure all 4 petals are there.
further inspection requires removing them

for the carb, in this order..........

1. properly clean carb: http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/carb-cleaning-how-to-video.39683/

2. check/set float height: http://www.blasterforum.com/threads/float-heights-and-how-to-adjust-them.50565/
(20 - 21.5mm for stock blaster carb)

3. adjust airscrew, the stock 32.5 pilot is what you want:

the needle and main jet settings have nothing to do with it starting

I haven't checked the reeds yet. I will follow the carb cleaning video this weekend and update you with what happens.
