I am very new to blasters and rebuilding engines, when should I replace the head on my stock motor.

So I am at the beginning of a rebuild on my 2000 Blaster and was 50/50 about rebuilding the bottom end. After I took the cylinder off i noticed what looked like heat stress/scorching on the crank. this will be my first rebuild.... Super Noob status and am not sure if this discoloration is...

I appreciate the advise. My budget is about $200..... I'm new to rebuilding quads and am not sure what is over priced and what is worth a purchase. My type of riding will primarily be trails ... not a lot of ramps to catch air on.
