Spindle painting

New blasty yesterday with red Maier plastics, I'd like to match my spindles to the body color.

I know I'll have to tape up the threads and joinings but what paint would I use?
I was thinking a few coats of red and a few coats of clear.
Spray, brushed, or airbrush?

wire wheel them, clean with thinner, primer, paint, and clearcoat ...you'll be good

spray bomb, duplicoclor metal spec from advanced auto has always been my weapon of choice
