Shift star and shift arm problems

I just reassembled the bottom end and went to put the shift star and shift arm on and when I go to shift it the shift arm roller doesn’t sit flush in the dip of the shift star. Why could this be caused? And also I cannot go thru all the gears. Its also pretty hard to shift. Thanks

It helps to be turning the wheels (chain on) or at least the output sprocket for it to shift thru all the gears.
that rotates the trans gears and helps them mesh together while shifting

Ok I thought about that but I wanted to make sure I didn’t screw anything up before I fully put it back together. Thanks for your help
