That one post on the shift star is worn but should be okay, looks like you need a new shift actuator tho

Also found out where the metal piece came from. It came off the kick start spring I believe here is a picture of that

Also where is the shift star supposed to be lined up at
it doesnt move super easy, the way it is oriented just determines what gear the bike is put into, since it is welded onto the end of the shift cam which controls the shift forks which moves your gears

the broken metal piece is from the kicker
the one point on the shift star that looks worn is supposed to be that way, that's where the wheel sits when in neutral
It's common to be hard to shift when the engine isn't running and turning the gears, spin the output shaft/front gear (engine out) or jack it up and spin the rear wheels (engine in/chain on) it'll shift easier

multiple threads on this same topic merged together, stick to just one thread per topic in the future

Not sure if this is totally figured out, but is the screw still in the end of shift drum/star?

The reason it’s hard to shift is it’s moving at least two gears and shift forks every shift.
