I do know I have spark and fuel but I have 40 pounds of compression. I am thinking it is the cylinder that is scored and needs to be replaced. I am hoping only the top end is messed up. I believe this blaster is somewhere between 1997 and 2002. I have no further knowledge on this engine and am looking for any advice on what the next step is. Thanks!!

Definitely gonna need top end rebuild.

X2 on the topend rebuild. Bring your cylinder to a machine shop to get measured and bored. Do not buy a piston till it is measured and they determine what will need to be removed to clean it up. Machine shop can get you everything you need such as piston wristpin bearing gaskets ect. That way everything is correct making your job easier.
The piston and gaskets are the same for all years. Incase your unsure of the year of your blasty
Clean top of piston. There should be some numbers on it. Ussualy the piston size is on it. Like 66.00 or 66.25-66.50 ect up to 68.00.
See some surface rust in cylinder? Did it get water in the engine?
Also check conecting rod for any up and down play when it is at its lowest and highest points. Some Side to side is normal.
Any questions just ask.

I would also suggest getting a repair manual as it will give you everything you will need to do everything.
There maybe a download version on here to

Thank you for the suggestions! I’m trying to keep a low budget on this project. I am not 100% sure what this blaster has been through it was given to me by a neighbor and I was told they blew it up. There may have gotten water in engine but I can’t see any other rust in bottom end. I’m not 100% sure what boring and cylinder is or where it would get done. Are you suggesting to keep same cylinder? I was thinking to just but new cylinder, piston, gaskets, and pins to hopefully get it running. I was hoping to do this project without outside help from a machine shop which is why I wanted to just buy a new cylinder. Could that work?

Just do a Google search for a machine shop near you. Or send it to ken occoner racing. Don't fall prey to the $90 kits with a cylinder ,piston ,gaskets maybe a carb?
They are junk and a waste of money. Most that buy them are right where you are at now. No compression.
