2000 Yamaha blaster won't stay running starts for a split second and won't start anymore Until about 15-20 mins later.

Headlight is coming on so can't be stator
Have changed ignition coil getting loads of spark.

Brand new reeds
Changed piston to wiseco(recently blew a eBay special piston was running perfect untill it blew)

Have done leak down test no drop in pressure atall

Tomorrow or next day new CDI should be here hoping that's it

Also it's completely stock

All I can think of at the moment any help would be appreciated

Should have done some more diagnosis before shotgunning parts at it. The ignition side of the stator is separate of the lights. Ohm the stator, coil, and plug cap separately. Check ALL connections for clean and tight. Bypass both switches for testing.

Unless you had the piston fitted to the bore (bore/hone) you probably won't have much better luck.

Piston was honed for cylinder before hand by my father in law I know it's nothing there

Also it got full rebuild about 5 months ago and ran absolutely perfect until blew piston about 3 weeks ago(was waiting on piston from USA why took so long)

It's was out in all kinds of weather for the 3 weeks but everything was dry when I actually went at it in the shed

It was getting spark every 4th or 5th kick why I changed ignition coil
Everything I've replaced had a motive I wouldnt change anything unless absolutely necessary

I'll have to get my father in law to tear down the electrical stuff for me as I don't have a clue in that part

Thanks for your help anyways

Check the pulse coil also. And flywheel keyway. If everything else tests good.
Good luck. Let us know what you find

I will get my father in law to check everything electrical soon as hes free

Thanks for your help

Ok so we fixed electrics turns out was a loose wire after all

Now that's it's started revs unbelievable high choke dies it back to idle and only way to get it to rev normal without choke is air screw the whole way turned right in

The idle is actually doing nothing on it can turn 40x right or 40x left no change atall in it

It has the tors box still attached to top of Carb but completely disconnected

Could it be bigger or smaller jets just kinda stumped so Is my father in law

Definitely sounds like a lean condition
What's the jet numbers?
32.5 stock pilot will work in most cases
With the air screw all the way in thats the richest position.
To lean of a pilot jet or your have an air leak?
Check intake boot good for cracks.
Also reed cage area for leaks(very common)
New gaskets used? Tourqed to spec.
Over tightening will cause leaks at reed cage
