not all coils are created equal 
different CDI's require different ohm primary in the coil.
I know from ordering a Nology coil that our primary is .3 ohms to match our CDI requirements.
a lot of older single cylinder 2 strokes do use the .3 ohm primary coil
so only if the LT coil primary matches that .3 ohms, it will work.
you may also need to ground it if it uses a 2 wire hot/ground setup.
