Can i use 4 wire stator on an 04 with 5 wire harness

I have an 04 blaster and bought a stator that was supposed to be the same year. My old stator had the 5th green wire but the new one just has 4 .Can i still use it and if so what do i need to do differently. What is the green wire actually for because i think to the best of my knowledge you really only need 3 wires to run.

I think I've seen something about it before. Try doing a search on here. IIRC the wire goes to the CDI and you have to cut and splice some wires.
