Hi guys n girls.I am Baker.i just bought a Yamaha blaster.dont know wat model or anything.only know that its a 2 stroke.ok the quad stood for about 8 months.i filled fuel and tried starting but no cigar.took out the carb and opened the bottom part.cleaned out the float and opened all the screws and found 2 jets that was heavily blocked. i used Q20 and petrol with a paint brush and a pin and cleaned it out.i got it to start.rode it for a few meteres and it cut out.oh by the way this was push start and not kick start.i opened up the carb n cleaned it as thorou an i could.even cleaned out the fuel tank.it then started by kick start but idles very irratic.then cuts out after a while.when i hold the throttle full it makes like ablob blob blob knocking noise.the same as when a diesel car has a diesel knock.it idles like a very high pitched tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk tuk sound.then on normal idle it idles normal.the minute i give throtte it start knocking again.and it was still leaking alot of fuel through the overflow pipe.i now opened up n stripped the carb again n clened it with petrol.also bent the float pin so it stops the fuel leak.now my baby does not start at all.please help me guys.i have replaced the spark plug and all aprk is good.now she wont start at all.please advise guys.thank you.oh and what do i use to clean the carb?

You will need to adjust the float height to proper specs. Since it has sat for a while and you said you cleaned the tank, make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb. Make sure pet weiny is letting fuel flow properly. Did you remove the jets to clean or did you clean them while still in the carb? You will want to check compression and most important would be to leak test.. Do a proper 2 stroke leak test.. There is a thread on how to perform one and how to make one. You can also purchase one from a member on here. It is a must tool to have if you own anything 2 stroke..

Most important thing to do is a leak down test.

Next get that float set back the way it is supposed to be. bending the tab is a great way to make things not run properly.

Awk08 sells leak down testers. get one, best tool in a blaster owners toolbox.

don't even try to start it till those 2 things are done.
I don't know how many guys I have seen ignore the advice they get here, blow up their bikes and never get em running again.

Also it would be wise to look through the exhaust or intake or remove the head. That knocking sound is not good

properly cleaned the carb ? including the pilot jet that sits down in beside the main hex jet ?

set float height

was the airscrew re-installed and turned in the whole way ?
start with it @ 1.5 turns out

that blah, blah, blah when hitting the throttle could be the TORS system
you'll need to know what year it is to do the proper TORS delete.............

got pics?
is it a stock carb?
do a compression test?
use a can of carb cleaner soak jets, not just spraying, for at least 10minutes
you should be able to hold pilot jet up to a light and see through it:)
read up on here you got a lot to learn about it:)

Hi Guys thank you all for the info. i have tried all you said and it worked. the Quad was riding like a dream. i rode it for almost a full day. have one slight issue thou. when i started it the next day it started on one kick but was idling like a splutter. when i rev it up it does not rev but just makes that knocking noise again and sounds like a diesel truck. its like a heavy tuk tuk tuk tuk noise. only when i rev it up. on stand still idle it idles lekker but has some white smoke coming out the exhaust. but that fuel spoke because i can smell thr fumes and not an oil smell.any further tips or advise on the knock noise when i try to rev it up?regards Baker

i ride and its like flat with no power and when i change gear its even worst. but has no power at all. idle is fine but upon acceleration its sputters alot and give that knock sound sir.

An air leak will return a multitude of symptoms.

Other possibilities are flooding of the float bowl, or incorrect float level setting.

Is it possible to get a vid of what it is doing.

Hi. yes sir that will be possible. i will get home tonight and make a video of what it is doing and i will post it through.
I realy appreciate all your assistance.

HI Guys.i have tried everything that i was told of you and thank you very much. the quad starts one shot on the turn with the first kick. i did ride it around in the bushes and so on. there is however still no power. in nutral it revs nice but not too the way it should. after i rodeit for a while a few times. it starting reving up very high on its own to point that i had to cut the power off completely. i then start it again and the idle is normal with no revving up. but still no power. i have a fuel leak out the bottom over flow pipe which i cannot get rid of. i have orderd a carb kit which i will replace by this weekend. and furthermore i have replaced the fuel on off and reserve valve. i am not sure why my baby blaster has no power..please reply
