Blaster Shutting Down While Driving! Help!

My Dad owns a 1998 Yamaha Blaster that was in the woods for years. We pulled it out and got it running good, few days later it would die out on you when driving and make this nasty clicking sound! I tried researching it but cant find much.. I'm no expert so please help! Also clicking sound while idle, is this normal? Thank you for reading and hope you can help - Nick

blasters do have a distinct rattle to them all, but that's excessive
time to pull the top end for an inspection and some measuring of piston clearance, before it grenades and takes the bottom end out too

I would suggest doing a leak down test before you tear it apart. That way IF there are other problems you can fix them at the same time. Also do the test after putting it back together.

And please power wash it before you perform surgery.
