    Uhmw skid plate

Also, this stuff is pretty impact resistant. It will not shatter and will give quite a bit and return to shape. I think it will also be less "grabby" over rocks and such than aluminum.

    Uhmw skid plate

Doc~ The plate on the bottom edge of the stock bumper stes right up against it and I rounded the front corners of the plastic. Although the plate on the bumpre and it were setting flush; I used a cresent wrench to bend the bumper plate down slightly so it pertruded slightly below it.

    Uhmw skid plate

Here's my new skid plate on what I call my $100 Blaster (I've got $300 in it now, and yes, it runs). I made it out of 1/2inch UHMW plastic sheet that I had laying around. It mounts on the front using the bumper bolts and the stock bumper fits over it (gonna be building a new bumper soon). The...

    custom made heel guards. PICS!

Nice work. Details, like that nice curve, are what makes all the difference with custom fabbing up your own stuff. I know a lot of folks like to strip down stuff like heel guards and fenders. If ya like the looks, thats great. But, I like the safety factor they provide. Fenders, heel guards, and...

    Changing to pre-mix

Thank you for your help. I knew there had to be an adjustment made to accommodate the decrease in the percent of gas (from 100% straight to mixed) flowing through the carb. Like i said originally; I know that tuning the carb for best efficency is dependent upon varibles, but this will definetly...

    Changing to pre-mix

Is there any standard setting that is done to the carb after changing from injection to pre-mix? I understand that carb tuning is dependent upon a number of varibles and I have a pretty good grasp of it. What my main concern is is a good starting point. Since the oil being mixed in the gas leans...

    Coatings

Well, as I understand it, hyperuretic refers to the process of construction moreso than it being a coating. If I remember correctly, hyperurectic refers to an alloy with a high silicon content and effects the pistons expansion from heat as well. I researched this a lil while we've been...

    Coatings

Most of the type of coatings I am refering to are used on piston skirts (normally a friction reducing compound), and piston faces and combustion chambers(heat dissipating compounds).

I notice that there are several professional builders on here, which is a valuable asset to us more novice guys. My question is; have any of y'all, or anyone else for that matter, had any experience with use some of the new friction-reducing and heat dissipating coatings with any of your builds...

    gas

I use to think back when I was younger that "premium" gas was better quality and therefore better for your engine, power, etc., but now I believe that the only gain you will get from it is less chance of preignition. This is why higher compression engines normally need it. I say normally because...

    gas

I have read studies before that showed using higher octane gasoline than is necessary for your engine will actually cost you power. This is because of the higher ignition temperature needed to ignite the fuel. I considered that this might not be a problem on an air-cooled engine, which normally...

am i only 1 n here from this state?

Yeah, there's lots of flat and muddy stuff, but I've never cared much for mudding. I normally try to stay out of it cause it just wears your stuff out. I like hill climbing and trail riding. Too bad Hickory Nut wasn't still open for riding.
