Brake Swap using complete donor quad

I was in the market for a clean, original 03+ Blaster when I found a clean 91 model. I went ahead and bought it, with the intention to find an 03+ to buy as a donor for it's brakes. I wanted to have a complete quad on hand to make sure the swap goes smoothly. However, I have started reading up...

    Best skid plate(s)

Is there a preferred skid plate for these things? Being on the small side they don't seem to have a whole lot of ground clearance and on my first ride out this weekend I smacked a few rocks/logs/trail junk with the underside of the quad. I'd like something that protects the frame rails and...

    Headlight troubleshooting

I just picked up an all original 91 Blaster (as you may have seen with some other, unrelated threads). This thing has hardly ever had a wrench turned on it, but I discovered yesterday that the headlight doesn't work. To be more specific…it doesn't always work. It seems to turn off and on...

    Identifying genuine Mikuni jets

I have the stock pipe on my blaster but I want to remove the airbox lid/snorkel. I stopped by the local Yamaha dealer to pick up a few main jets...I bought a 240/250/260. The guy at the parts counter assured me these are genuine Mikuni jets, but I’m concerned that there are no Mikuni markings...

Jetting stock pipe, airbox lid removed

I just picked up a completely original 91 Blaster. I haven't decided if I want to put an aftermarket pipe on it or not. It's soooooo quiet now and I like being able to ride in the woods behind my house without annoying the neighbors. What I do intend to do immediately is remove the airbox lid...

    A-Arm bushings

I just bought a 100% original 1991 Blaster from the original owner. This thing has led a ridiculously easy life and I'd venture to guess it has maybe 20 hours on it, at the most. I was told it has hardly ever had a wrench turned, and I believe it. The 61 year old guy I bought it from purchased...

    Starting Point with oversize carb

I’m new here and new to the Blaster community. I’m very familiar with two strokes but I’m coming from MX bikes. I just picked up a cherry all original 91 Blaster from the original owner. It probably has 10-12 hours on the whole bike and is completely totally stock. Truly a barn find. I just...
