1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

Well I'm back at it, bit faster than I thought too. Bit the bullet and ordered a Tusk axle and American Star A-Arms. A good, hefty chunk of change. Found a guy near me selling Banshee parts dirt cheap, picked up the front wheel setup for a good deal. I have the swingarm, all new bearings and...

    Extended A-Arm and Spindle questions

Thanks, I'm really leaning towards Banshee parts at this point, theres a place near me called Motor City ATV that sells Banshee parts that seems like a reasonable price. Those A-Arms are expensive alright, but it will be worth it when the quad isnt so tippy :D Edit: Quick question, if I change...

Thanks for the response, seems based off this answer alone that I need to start looking for Banshee parts

    Extended A-Arm and Spindle questions

Ok ok. I've been doing some research about extended a-arms for the blaster and it's more complicated than I had imagined. I know there's a lot of threads out there discussing this, I've read a good amount of them and it doesn't seem any cover this topic well enough. It appears that the a-arm...

Nahhhh, I dont think the frame is bent. It's never been in a roll over or anything major, but my friend did like to ride it on its side 2 wheels, thats why im thinking its a bent tab... Im not sure, here are some pics i took while walking out the door to class. Gonna have to fiddle around...

1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

Well, everything is coming together well. School started again so I've been distracted with that. I accidentally exploded one of the swingarm bearings while trying to pull the inner seal into place, knocked it with the bolt i was using to pull it in and it smashed the wall and all the rollers...

Well heres the engine, all put together and ready to go Heres what the frame looks like at the moment Heres the frame next to my buggy frame, the a-arms are currently off the buggy. We're trying to get it off that damned wooden cart so we can take the engine out and sell it. Anyone...

1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

Good responses guys. I looked into the CFM airbox, probably will pick it up from their site, I already bought a UNI filter for the stock airbox, hopefully it's the correct one for the CFM. I found Moose Racing and UPP make 34-35mm intake boots, should be able to wedge my carb into one of...

1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

Ok so I got the top end completely together, she turns over nice with no binding. Installed the kicker, did the oil pump delete, and put the clutch cover on. All I have left engine wise is stator, flywheel, cover IIRC off the top of my head. I lost one of the little grommets for the stator, so I...

Ok i figured RTV on a head gasket was wrong, the instructions say use High-Temp Silicone Sealer, I googled it and red RTV came up. I did not use it on the base gasket either. I picked up some Copper Spray-A-Gasket at lunch, going to slap the head on tonight.

Haha no worries, I didnt notice it when you posted, only when I started to plug and the numbers got funky, im not a genius. As far as my build is going: I ordered a shorty brake cable and new rear pads from Amazon. Cable should be here Thursday but those pads are going to be here next week...

Haha yeah, I started to punch the numbers into that formula and PEMDAS came knocking at my door lol I've done enough formulas to figure that there's supposed to be parenthesis in there. 252 ft lbs is a big difference than 18 ft lbs :D

I noticed that and ended up using the tool online where you just punch in numbers, just to be safe.

1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

I figured that if I goofed it up i'd feel more dumb than just asking. Should I use any loctite? I've been looking but I cant find a definitive answer. Some say red loctite, some say dark blue loctite, some say none. Anyone know any good ideas for a key relocation for fat bars? I think I'm...

1999 Blaster Big Bore & Stroker

Well I have the new fat bars on with the controls, now I just need to figure out how to make a plate to hold the key. And at the risk at sounding like an idiot, which way do I install these head studs? It seems pretty obvious, I think the hex head goes up, but I've never done head studs before...
