I've done 3 engines this way. Other than getting the crank trued.
I use 1 7/8 trailer ball hitch to heat up and transfer the heat. The skirt on the ball hitch works great. The threads are smaller than the bearing and slide through.
These are not Blaster jugs. No boring in a plated jug. You will not only be measuring piston clearance but also ring gap on your new piston. Measure the bore top and bottom.
I have a YZ125 with a new Nikasil plated jug from Mellinium plating. Thats the way to go. They can exchange a new plated...
The blaster sizes are (66 being stock) 66.25, 66.5, 66.75, 67, up to 68.
Have the shop measure it first and then pick the next size up.
Then take the piston and jug back to the shop to get it bored.
55$ seams to be the rate for bore and hone.
The yellow blaster in my pic went 5 years on one piston with the injector. Had 2 with it removed but hated mixing the gas sitting beside two 4 strokes.
Try disconnecting the 2 key hook ups. (Will start without key)
Take a multi meter and test both ends of each wire to see if there are any shorts.
Look over all connections to make sure all colors/stripes match up.
Look over all grounds to make sure they make contact with the frame. (no paint in...
I have a blaster that I am bringing back to life and have been looking around for the "plate guide" in the older Nissin cable brake off a mid 90's blasty.
2" trailer ball hitch.......Great idea. Thanks
How hot am I looking to get the inner race too? I understand the bearing tightening. Is there a ball park temperature the race should measure?
I agree. I am having issues getting the inner race of the last crank bearing any hotter than 110 degrees. Thats about all the heat transfer i can muster.
I do not have a puller.
Ken's methods have proven great through the bearing seating and stator side crank seating.
I have a bottom end I and trying to close. I have noticed the tusk crank installer has m12 at 1.25 thread attachment, But the blaster crank has m12 1.00 threads on the crank.
How well does the tool work with the mismatch?
I have used heat to get me through the crank bearings and installing the...
Weisco pistons in both my Blasters. One on 3rd Season and running strong. One in daughters on 1st season and holding strong.
They get out once or twice a month for day long quad park trips. Quads will upgrade by next spring. 3rd Blaster is being built.
But Pudvah - you nailed it on the head. Thanks
Interesting. Wonder if they sell any at all. According to "Bansheedave" they will all fail after install. Its a wonder they don't have a law suite against them. Fancy they sell them with such a high fail rate. hmmmm
Whell sorry my neighbor has a truing jig. His son raced Team Green and runs a...
You "True" the crank before installation. You should do that with any crank.
Need more hard facts than being out of true from factory.
My neighbor has a Truing Jig and caliper.
Also its for trail use only. No racing.
After reading a good bit. I was wondering what is the actual issues everyone has with Weisco Crank Shafts. If installed correctly and taken care of, whats the issue?
I live is Des Moines and know the rep and shops that deal directly with Hot Rods. The owners wife is Asian and her family owns...
Thanks, the nozzle slid right out of the bunk carb. At this point its getting the vm26 606 in hand. Should have most of the angles covered to get it to Blaster specs.
The threads are stripped on the cap and carb body. Air Leak City. Thats how she came this time. $200 total package Blaster. I have 2 other blasters so I have a collection of jets.
I've looked for information on removing the "emulsion tube/needle jet" but can not come up with much. It does not look like the blaster carb's comes out to easy.
But a P-6 @ 2.680 is the goal i am sure.
