    backing calipers off?

just picked up a 99 blaster, my first quad. i believe it has a extended swingarm. the brake caliper doesnt reach the mounting bracket very easy. also the brake pads are too close together they wont go over the rotor. so how can i get the pads to back off? any ideas?
