Wasn't smoking blue? Depends what oil you were using, some just don't smoke all that blue. Give her a good o'l leak test though. The main cause for burning tranny oil is that seal. Only way to get it to seal is to put a little lube/grease around the outside and inside of the seal, and press/tap...

You ran a rebuild motor without leak testing it? For shame! hahaha Clutch side crank seals are a PITA to get fully sealed. Took me three tries!

You sure its not just your clutch side crank seal? Did it pass a leak down test?
