Hi everyone. i just bought a 01 blaster for 600 that has an ongoing issue with it running away. when running the idles is fine with the choke out but as soon as you put it in the idle skyrockets.
I tried to do a leak test but cant get the tester to seal on the intake boot.
but before all the pressure leaked I sprayed everything and theres no bubbles any where.
You think there is a chance the oil injection is over oiling causing it to diesel itself an take off

thanks you for any help and advice and sorry for the some what long post

Does it shutoff with the kill switch? If it does then it isn’t really running away.

It does if i shut it off right away. if i let it go for a minute i have to snuff the air box or plug the exhaust

Got the tester to stop leaking and it held 7psi for 7 mins and did another test at 6 psi for 6 mins so dont think its leaking air any suggestions

Best way to kill a runaway is hold brakes, shift into second, dump the clutch.

If you don’t have an air leak, you have a carb problem, or remotely a carbon hot spot causing auto-ignition.

Clean carb by complete disassembly including both Jets and main jet holder/emulsion tube.
Make sure you can blow compressed air through ALL passages.
Set float, start air screw at 1 1/2 turns out.
Check that gasket on top of slide is good and cap was/is tight.
If oil injection is deleted make sure nipple is still plugged/capped

Im going to be rebuilding the entire carb an going to check out the reeds, deleting oil res once the kit comes in and when its all back together ill see if it runs better. im redoing all the bearing ( a arms, swing arm carrier, front hubs) right now an lil painting
