Hey guys I have a 03 blaster with open air box, fmf gold series pipe and fmf power core 2 silencer. I checked the main jet and it's the factory jetting. The quad seems to run strong and the plug is still on the blackish side wich makes me think I should leave the jetting alone. I just want to make sure I don't melt or break anything without the proper jet. Any info would be great.

Stop running it before it blows, a stock 230 main is way too lean for an FMF/Open airbox
you need between a 270 and 310 main jet, buy them all at once and only pay shipping once, (270/280/290/300/310)
jets-r-us, sudco or ebay
unless a local shop will let you try and return them a couple at a time ? (mine did)
get a 6 pack of b8es plugs too. 2 stroke plugs can only be read once on the jetting circuit intended, as each circuit (pilot/needle/main) could be rich/lean and lend to the color.
unlike what you mention "black" which may work on 4 strokes, but not 2 strokes.
start with the 310 and plug chop down to perfection, then you'll need to bump it up 1-2 sizes if your weather gets down into the 40/50's and below
what's correct @ 80 degrees will fry it in the cooler/winter temps.

plug chops ............

If you did a “real” plug chop and it was black, then you have a problem other than jetting!! Any amount of regular riding will leave a plug black because you’re burning oil (especially depending on the type)
