Engine keeps suddenly stopping

My son installed a rebuilt engine on his blaster. It ran fine for a few hours, then suddenly stopped. There was oil in the crankcase. The fuel was mixed correctly. Something was jammed up. It wouldn't turn over, couldn't even move the kick start.

I thought at first that something had been sucked into the exhaust since the muffler had fallen off for a while and my son hadn't really installed it again completely properly.

We took off the top end. The bottom end seemed OK. Rod moved up and down freely. Kick start moved freely. We put the top end back on again. It also seemed undamaged. We also installed the muffler properly this time. The engine started again, and ran about 30 seconds, and then abruptly stopped. It was as though the piston suddenly hit something. It was at the bottom of the stroke. Completely jammed.

Can anyone give me an idea what could be jamming in there?

How's the piston look? Cast pistons have been known for piston skirts breaking from excessive piston to cylinder clearance.
The pieces get caught in the crank area. And can damage the cases. If that is your problem
Time to start tearing it down to find your problem.check clutch side also with cover removed also.if you have to split the cases
These blasters split from the clutch side
