01 Blaster with shorty cable, installed the shorty about a year ago always worked perfect, let the quad sit for about a month and when I hop on it there is no resistance when I push down on the rear brake??? I have no clue what this could be.

Broken cable? Push brake pedal down while watching rear break caliper lever to see if it moves?Does the quad roll? Rear caliper stuck?

Ended up taking apart the caliper today. Not sure how to explain this, but there is a notch on one piece and a groove on the other piece, the notch has been worn off..... what do i do??

You will have to replace worn parts if you want to keep your cable brakes.
Rockymountainatvmc usually has the parts to rebuild them .
Look them up. Look under oem parts.
Put in your info for your bike . under rear brakes it will show the parts breakdown. Probably the ratchet kit?
Or go hydraulic with some fabing
