Hi, i have an 2001 blaster with some mods, and recently i put a high compression head on it and noticed i lost a lot of compression (can push the kickstarter down with my hand with no resistance) as well as it not idling. it seemed like it ran fine besides when i'd let off the gas and give it more while riding, it'd bog dow but still had plenty of power/torque.

I took off the head and found oil underneath the head gasket, replaced the head gasket and put on a new 28mm carb and rejetted. The quad still doesnt idle and sounds really deep when i give it throttle. I even put my old stock head on there and it is still doing it. the idle screw on the carb is all the way in. Could it be the reeds/cylinder? I blew it up about a year ago and ordered a cheap chinese cylinder but put a wiseco piston and rings in it.

mods: full fmf exhaust, high compression head, new head gasket, oil injection block off, veforce reeds, 28mm carb, tors delete

what carb do u have?
do u have the tors system?
whats the carb jetted at?

give it a compression test and see where you are at. What kind of head mod was done?

Where did you get it. Was the stock head rechambered?
If you can push kicker down really easy ?
You need to do a compression test.
Yes it was a stock head rechambered. I figured since its obvious theres low compression a compression test would be pointless to do

Then you would know how low.
Why is it low. Alot of hours? Air leak or wrong jetting causing a lean condition?
Might want to do a leakdown test to see if you have any air leaks. You don't want to redo top end and have the same thing happen again imo
