I am helping a friend get this ol girl up and running again but I first need to identify the year as it needs a few things lol. Its pretty rough. Thanks in advance!!
It would only let me upload these photos. I took several but when I tried uploading, the others said the file was too large. I trimmed the photos to make the files smaller, but then I was greeted with a security error lol. Therefore I gave up. If this isnt enough info I will try my best to find another way to make the photo file size smaller. Thx

Its pretty simple.
Step 1
Locate the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the frame of your Yamaha Blaster. It is stamped on the frame near the left foot peg.

Step 2
Determine the 10th digit or letter of the VIN number.

Check the following conversion chart to determine the year of your Yamaha Blaster. J: 1988 K: 1989 L: 1990 M: 1991 N: 1992 P: 1993 R: 1994 S: 1995 T: 1996 V: 1997 W: 1998 X: 1999 Y: 2000 1: 2001 2: 2002 3: 2003 4: 2004 5: 2005 6: 2006

Good luck!

It is a 2003, Thanks for the quick help you guys! Someone really did a number on this machine. A new carb and reed valves should get it up and running!

Yes Sir!! Getting them to run is half the fun of owning them... I had mine for 2.5 years and finally got around to the plug chop stage (procedure is located in forum, easy... and necessary for mods ). Still a bit rich, but im going with it!
Have fun and enjoy.... ask any questions or do a search, its here!

have you all ever had any luck with Chinese carbs? from the photos they look pretty rough.
DONT waste your time with them... I did purchase one a few years ago, it sort of worked BUT, I went to take a look inside and nothing is marked.. so you dont know what you are getting. If you want an opinion... (a wiseman once told me.....(AWK08) ) stick with the stock Mikuni carb, they are good for mods up to 30ish or so horsepower! Besides these are Japanese bikes NOT Chinese. I use my Chinese carb to throw at the neighbors dogs to keep them in their own darn yard!! (just kidding on the dog thing)
Good luck
