Just pulled out the 2 stator bolts. The threads had some gummy looking junk on them. I pushed a small screw driver up in the hole to try to pull out some of the unknown substance. Screwdriver bottomed out.. I pushed a little more and heard a pop. Then.. I pushed again and realized the "bottom" of the stator bolt holes were "spongy". Like there was a bladder for pliable gasket back there.

Anyone know what is back there?

Did the popping sound I heard mean I stuck the screw driver through a gasket?

Thanks

Photo would help. What colour was the stuff and did it smell like oil? or fuel or pooh?

Are you talking about the 2 screws that hold the stator on

Here is whats is behind the cover. Is it one of the 5 holes that hold the cover on?

The 2 long phillips-head stator bolts are usually loctite'd in, so the gummy junk you saw was probably just this (was it brownish?). The "pop" you felt may have just been a thin skin of loctite that was on the end of the bolt... Unless you pushed REAL hard, and went clear through the case :p

I don't think there's meant to be anything in there otherwise, so can't think what the spongy feeling would be... maybe some casebond down at the bottom of the hole?

You were right. It was a white spongy crap on the threads. Push a screw driver in the two long stator bolt holes and a spongy feeling. I pushed a flat blade screw driver in... pushed a little harder.. and felt the screw driver bottom out against the aluminum. Twisted it a few times and some white spongy crap came out. "Someone" used some casebond and/or something. Thanks for the info!! Cleaned it with screw driver and air. Will be going back with Loctite Blue.

Does anyone know why my 2 stator bolts that hold my stator on won't screw in it? seems like it was stripped.but I don't know,I
I'm noobie at this type of stuff

Might be stripped out. But not sure the odds are high that both would be???
Did they come loose and you were attempting to tighten them or did you discover this when you were replacing the stator?

It died but sounded like it jumped time, and died,I couldnt get it started so I thought maybe it's shared the key but when I pulled a flywheel off the bottom bolt was coming out it holds the stator on finally got some bolts in it it was staying without slipping out now I have no spark

Depending on how loose the bolts were it's possible the stator got damaged from the flywheel hitting it.

I think most will suggest to go back with an OEM stator. I don't believe there has been much luck with any of the aftermarket stators.
