just a question my blaster is smoking alot. it had a full rebuild seals, bearings, trans, piston and rings.
oil injection delete, tors is still on, ran in a covered air box with new filter, and the carb has been cleaned. original pipe and exhaust. fuel mix 32:1. is it possibly jets in the carb as to why it smokes a lot and it seems to run hot. the blaster runs strong and starts on first or second kick.

i am going to buy a infrared laser thermometer today to check how hot the engine is getting. what is the optimal running temp of a blaster

Was it .....
Leakdown tested ?
3 heat cycles and retorque head and base nuts ?
Jets removed and cleaned with carb cleaner and compressed air ?

It was not leakdown tested but everything else was done. Could you possible post a link to how to make a leakdown tester please.

thanks.

There are a few pics of one on the forum. Basically, one can be made very easily using a metal valve stem. gauge for gas use, some PVC pieces, and an expandable expansion plug. Having access to a leak down tester is an absolute must with 2 strokes. If it will help you, I can post a pic of mine.

I have to ask a total noob question. In the video, he stated to have the piston at the bottom, I have been doing it while at top dead center. Which is correct? I am pretty new at this.

It doesn't matter where the piston is, theoretically BDC would allow the pressure into the top end thru the transfers, but with the engine not running pressure will get into the top end
