I know the dots have to line up on the balance shaft to the primary gear. Does it have to be a tac or bdc? Still fighting smoking like no other everything been resealed other then splitting the case. I’m have air coming out of the vent tube when I do a leak down test. So what’s y’alls opinion? Really don’t want to tear it all apart and sink more money in it but will if I have to. I have to get it right or I’ll feel defeated and no engine has beat me yet. I’m determined to fix it.

Do a leak down test with clutch cover off. Either bad Crank seal or you didntdseal collar/keyway.
Crank seal been replaced but I’ll redo the text with the cover off when I change the clutch. But what collar/keyway you talking about?

Did you lubricate seal? I pack them with grease. Writing on seal facing you? Use spray bottle with soapy water on seal/collar/keyway area. I also seal the keyway.

I did not pack with grease but did use some of my case oil to live it to install it. Writing and number face out when installed. I didn’t even know that collar would come out. Thanks for sharing that video. Still new to the site so don’t know how to navigate it all just yet. Looks like it’s time to redo it all again and hope I don’t have a vibration when I put it back together like I do now. Thanks for the info!

If the dots are lined up perfectly and you have vibration, that's not the problem. Check the balancer gear for tightness on the shaft and for slop in that bearing.
The gear is actually several pieces. There should be very little play between the gear and the inner hub. There are rubber cushions similar to the clutch.
Have you checked that the key for the balancer is good? Flywheel key? Flywheel tight?

Not necessary to pack seal with grease, it's just something I do. Real old school mechanic here. Emphasis on OLD :D
