hey there, bought a used blaster with front disks on it thinking great! Saved me the trouble! Well the bleeders were snapped off and trying to drill them out was useless. So went and ordered a set of new calipers, it fits everything Yamaha great! Or so I thought...

Apparently my front spindles are something like half the height they are supposed to be?? I have no idea what they are or how to replace them with something better/will actually fit, can anyone help me figure out what is going on??

If you need any additional info or pictures don’t hesitate to ask, I have no idea where to even begin with these as I assumed since they fit and everything looked like a banshee or blaster front end I would be find but far from it apparently...

Thanks

Those look like 1988-1999 J-arm banshee spindles.
your only option is probably used J-arm banshee calipers

Awesome! Thanks for your help, I did some more digging and yes it appears you are correct! The years though are only 87-89 for banshee calipers that will fit.

Alright so the next thing is, I was looking at the spindles from champs and think I might just replace the spindles as they don’t “really” fit (the tie rod contacts the a arm because they are shorter than the normal sized spindle) my question is that if I get the champs spindles will the hubs I currently have fit them or will I need new hubs as well?

https://www.champshobby.com/product/blaster-hydro-conversion-spindle-set/

Although it says it’s out of stock, I apparently had purchased the last set yesterday as I decided to get them before having your response haha. I may end up converting my other blaster but I have no idea yet and they may not even be able to fulfill my order anyways.

Yes to the Champs spindles, those are Ken Oconnor Racing spindles his sons sells thru that online/ebay store, they are direct fit for blaster and 90+ banshee parts.

BUT ..... I had a set of those 87-89 J-arm hubs/discs/spindles, that's how I recognized them as the painful memories returned
I think they did fit on 90+ spindles (or I changed the inner bearing to the correct size to fit) but they would not work with the newer calipers, the head of the screws that hold the disc to the hub are button head and not recessed, they hit the caliper as it rotates.
90+ banshee stuff has recessed head screws for no interference.

I ended up scrapping all of that J-arm nonsense and just getting 90+ banshee hubs/discs and calipers to go with the KOR spindles.

Grab a fresh bottle of Tylenol if you proceed to try and mix those parts with new, you'll need it :(

Haha greaaaat, well thanks for all the info! I did read your pinned story on the forum and I was wondering if I was experiencing the same problems as you but couldn’t really follow along (new to the blaster field), it’s funny that I’m now experiencing everything you were.

Well this is a sticky pickle then lol

Since you’re pretty knowledgeable, I saw that the calipers also fit warrior 350’s, and those hubs are much more available than banshees or blasters, will the warrior 350 hub/rotor combo work fine as well?

I’m thinking I can convert my other blaster too and I kinda would like to as them both will be hydros and that would be nice especially for resale value lol

I don't recall seeing much about Warrior parts, and that may be the reason they're more available ..... nobody is using them ?

cross reference part # between warrior and Banshee. i think they're same. i know yzf450 are same as banshee, except maybe newer X or R models.
