Ok so I have a 1988 blaster that I bought for $580. I got it home and it was hard to get it started but it started. I changed the gas and sprayed engine starting fluid. It started but I had to keep giving it gas. I took it up the street and back and tried to mess with the carb but it wouldn't start back up, it sounded like it wanted to but nothing. I thought it was the carb so I bought one and nothing. I got a plug tester and there's spark. I don't know anything about carbs. I read on here to pull behind the truck with it on off position and gas off with open throttle then try starting. It didn't work so I tried to bump start but nope. It wanted to but couldn't. While it was being pulled and I was trying to start, I turned the lights on and they work. There was two black wires up front that I connected together to see if something changes but nope. Then I have the tor wires or looks like it that had a pig tail so I cut and put together and still nothing. I need help. Should I order the ignition coil and CDI with new reeds. Bike has FMF pipe. I have not had a blaster before. I had a banshee and raptor 700 and built 4x4 Chevys

The "Shotgun" approach to repair rarely works. The trick is to figure out what is actually wrong.

You need three things. Fuel, Air, Fire.
Which don't you have? Or questionable quality?
Air is easy. Either your air intake or exhaust is plugged or it's not.
Either you have a nice fat blue spark, or you don't. NEW PLUG ???
Either you are getting fuel into the cylinder or you aren't. Carb problems, fuel delivery, low compression, air leak, bad reeds.

Also, aftermarket electrical/ignition parts have poor quality.

Unless you saw something on the forum about those two wires being connected, please explain why?

One easy test/repair would be to eliminate the TORS. , being an 88 unplug the brain under the hood, 3 wire plug.
The TORS can and will cause all kinds of weird problems, just like on a Banshee.

Ok so I replaced the ignition and the CDI sand nothing. So I had noticed the reeds weren't the original ones. Back when I got it started and then died. Today I decided to pull all that out and boom one was broken off. Luckily it didn't go through. And I'll show pictures in a few. So off I go to get new ones and will keep updated.

So this is part of my problem.

Don't know why it would say that. Go to any site that has stock parts and compare part numbers.
