So I have a older brother who is 29yrs old who was hit by a IED in the army. He had his left leg taken off up to the knee so he has no movement at the ankle. He has a prostetic. He has a 2003 250yz, i have been riding it because he couldnt ride it and i didnt have my blaster at that time. I'm rebuilding it because it had a knock. Excessive play at the connecting rod and crankshaft. I was wondering if anyone has ever relocated the shifter to let's say the handle bars, so he could ride it once again.

How are your fabrication skills?
I envision a battery, DC conversion, two way electric selinoid. Also look into how a Honda Foreman 450 ES works. Two switches on left bar, up& down.

when I almost ripped my foot off on my blaster back in '09 (boot laces into chain, leg/foot wrapped around axle = $11k helicopter ride)
as soon as they put a hard cast on me @ 2 weeks, I was back riding the next day.
I used U bolts to attach a small childs golf putter to the shifter and used my left hand to bang it up/down thru the gears, like a suicide shifter on an old harley
I rode like that in a cast for 16 weeks over that summer

like this metal kids putter from walmart, I cut it short and glued the rubber handle back on top, even with the top of my tank

Harleys and other old bikes have been doing it for years

Thanks guys great ideas. But if you're using the lever how do u pull the clutch, should I weld/ bolt the clutch lever on the shift lever?

Air shifter. I run a few for drag racing. May have to run two shift cylinders. One for up shifts and one for down shifts. Only issue would be refilling with air but a small on board compressor with battery would do it.
