TOO MUCH GAS?

I posted awhile back on not being able to start my 2004 blaster. I have recently rebuilt the top end and installed with new gaskets and spark plug. During this project I also put a twist throttle on the bike and "looped" the tors back together I did this by plugging the two ends of the tors system together. To complete the twist throttle it requires that you install a idle kit this also has been done. I have not done anything to the jetting. Now that the bike is back together I can get it to turn all the way over it seems that it tries to start then sputters and dies. I have checked the plug and it is wet every time so i wipe it off put it back in and nothing. I think it might be getting too much fuel and running rich. Does this sound right? If so what suggestions would you have to fix it and get this thing up and running again.

you should probably disable your tors, it just causes problems. there is a diy on it. what size jet are you running? i would take it down a few sizes depending on your aftermarket performance parts.

nope
main jet size has no bearing on idle
you need to turn out your pilot screw

What is the pilot screw how far do i take it out and where is it. Also is there anything else to do to get it running?

thats where thought the main jet size comes into play?

Main jet is for Full throttle, Needle clip is 1/4-3/4, pilot is 1/4, and pilot air screw is just a way to "fine tune" your pilot jet. Also throttle response is effected by air screw.

Its the only flat head screw on your carb right under where the fuel lin runs into the side of carb. Turning it out counterclock will lean it out. Dont go past 3 turns or the spring may couse the screw to come out.

I dont se how it could be rich if its stock jetting. Take off your air box lid and try , that will lean it some. Check to see if your getting spark, And get a new plug!!

This thing is driving me crazy. I cant figure it out. It has to be something really easy. I took the top end apart again just to look at the rebuild and everything looks fine put it all back together and same problem. I changed the spark plug and still nothing. When I try to kick it over it just wont start i dont know what else to do. It has compression and a good spark. I guess it has to be something with the fuel. My neighbor says it smells like its getting too much fuel. Again, I just rebuilt the top end new piston and rings, new spark plug, installed new FMF pipe, installed twist throttle, put idle kit on carb, and disabled the tors. That should help give you guys an idea of where were at now that its back together.

Also when I disabled the tors the instructions i followed made me do this:

Took off the stock throttle and the throttle box and cliped the two ends of the wires together to create a loop.

Dont know if this sounds right but thats where were at.

When I disabled my tors all I did was unplug it at the carb, unplug the switch from the throttle, and unplug the "brain" under the front plastics.
Are you certain that you are getting spark?
The best way to check is unscrew the sparkplug, attach the coil wire to it and
hold it against the engine and kick it over.
(not assuming you don't know, just trying to help)

yeah i have taken out the spark plug held it in the boot in my hand and kicked it over its a bright blue spark hurts like a son of a biotch if you touch the plug itself just and fyi. If the tors was disabled wrong would i still have a spark?

check your reeds, also check the torque on the cylinder nuts , clean your air filter, if you are still getting spark your tors is disconnected right, not sure if you have already or not but clean out your carb.
hope it works out for ya

Ur getting to much gas at the bottom of the carb turn Carb screw to left (it's located at the bottom of carb on side where choke is ) till all gas fall out of carb make sure gas tank (gas will leak from bottom tube now) is on off so no gas is allowed in then once all gas is out carb tightn screw back turn gas on watch it flow down get on kick it with clutch out if she don't start but sputters put clutch n kick it with no clutch give q little gas n zoom ur flooded ur carbs not set yet
