Any one ever remove decals with success and transferred them ? If so how?

Specifically tank decals..... I have decals on a red tank cover but I want a black tank cover and want to transfer them if possible. Getting them off cleanly is the issue. I am leery to attempt it unless it has been done before..

I have had success before as well as fails, as long as the adhesive stays on the decal and not on the tank cover it should work!
The thicker the graphic the better as-well because when you remove it it wont stretch and distort as much

I have not done it but i believe it would be possible.

IF you could get the sticker off in one piece without it tearing, you could re-apply it.

For removing, i would start it with a razor, then continue slowly with hands. add some heat but not a lot
I would also use goo-gone

dont worry about the adhesive. You can get some spray adhesive from a store.
Use 3M 77 adhesive if possible. best stuff you can get. spray it on the backside of the sticker, not the tank. should be obvious but ya know...

Ive used super 77 on graphics on the back fender of a dirtbike and it worked great, i sprayed the backside of the graphic and let it set for awhile till it was extremely tacky then applied.

I reapplied grafics to an RM tank that were peeling at edges. Actually masked around them before removing so I could glue tank also. Used 3M, think it was 99, no matter all good shizz. 3 light coats, let tack, apply.

I mostly used a hair dryer/heat gun to slowly remove. Made mistake of trying to hard to clean dirt off edges before re-install.

BTW, 2 yrs later still stuck to tank, so should work great for cover.

I guess I am going to have to borrow the wifes blow dryer ..

So 3M has different tacky sprays ? << I have yet to look them up...
