So I decided to start a new thread on this since my mission has changed. Got it most of the way broke down today. All thats left is to pull the crank and pistons. So far I only found 1 bad thing. The end of the crank has a key for the timing gear and it was in rough shape. Boogered the keyway up on the crank, but the gear is fine. I asked my buddy if he could just put the new key in and then fill the booger with weld, but he send thats prob not a good idea. Not sure what else I can really do with it though. Might be able to fill it and dremel it to clean it up. I can still see hone marks in the cylinders! I didn't check the specs, but the bores measured 85.85mm with my calipers and I know stock is ~86mm. Pretty amazing to see hone marks with 161000 miles. The head over the 3rd cylinder (which had 50psi) was a lot blacker than the other 3.

Feeling pretty good about my first engine teardown, over all. Still wanna know if anybody has used these http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...Xt+bore+gauge.TRS0&_nkw=t+bore+gauge&_sacat=0

I had a 05' b2300. It was a awesome truck. I bought it brand new. Sad to say once I paid it off, I had my second child and needed a bigger vehicle. Traded it in. I wish til this day I still had it.

yeah have a set of those bore gauges in my tool box, used them once to measure my blasty cylinder when she needed a rebuild

When it was running, I actually had 3 other trucks running, and I used to let a lot people borrow my mazda. Everyone of them tried to buy it. When its running its a great little truck

What'd you think of em, seem accurate? I figured I'd check em with my caliper when I get em and compare

well after they expand out to the sides, u lock it in place and measure it with your caliper, they dont have numbers on them, so my guess is they are accurate as your caliper is
