What's up everyone. I figured I might as well finally introduce myself, I bought a 2003 Blaster about 3 weeks ago and have been SCOURING this forum ever since. I haven't owned a quad before and never a 2 stroke.

When I was in high school I had a 4 stroke dirt bike for a lot of years but didn't really work on it just add gas and go.

So the Blaster I bought for 600 is actually in really good shape for the price. It starts first kick but I haven't rode it because from reading this site I learned that air leaks will seize you engine and he told me the stator side gasket is sh*t so I purchased the gasket and made a leakdown tester from the instructions on this site . I'm almost positive I have seen awk08 and blaaster tell people to test for air leaks 5.5 million times.

It had the oil injection deleted but my 6 month old son could have done better because there was no vaccum plug on the carb so I added that. Also for some reason he cut the crankcase vent hose in half I have the parts to fix that as well.

I plan on draining the gas and gear oil and replacing with proper fluids, cleaning the carb and checking the jet (it has Toomey B1 kit) I bought a 310 jet and 300 jet didn't have 320 so hopefully 310 works, leakdown testing and hopefully ready to rip. I never worked on a quad but im confident from the experience on this site I have been trained well and will be fine. Oh and im going to delete TORS too I plan to cap the carb and drill the idle screw in but for now I will do the free version.

Top marks for taking advice on the leak testing.

Read up on plug chops before you decide which jet to fit,.

And welcome to BF.

Oh I forgot to add that I did buy a 10 pack of plugs so I can plug chop (and have extras) trust me I read a lot of your threads and understand leaktesting then plug chop so I can then put proper jet in and adjust Idle/airscrew. in theory im good to go but it never goes that smooth so im sure I will be asking some questions at a later date.

Welcome to BF !
I've been to your area of CT. a few times to visit Ken Oconnor Racing in Danielson/Brooklynn.
you've got all the help you may ever need right up the road, and at your fingertips on here :)

Awesome I will have to check it out. Brooklyn is like 15 mins from my house. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Welcome to the forum, nice looking Blaster. It may pay to look into the parking brake delete on the 03 as well as the tors, both have been problematic.

welcome:)
it is a first for me to see a spring on the pipe/silencer connection lol
whats up with the airbox??
my toomey pipe love for it to be off or drilled holes in the cover

and i see the oil injection line still lingering around:)

it is in better hands know im sure/sounds like you got a good drive to take care off it.
and you got ken at your back door...he also has tons of parts for sale at his shop..

Welcome. I don't mean to be nit pick but the chain looks it might be a lil loose. The last thing you want is a loose chain to pop or break and take out the case.

Nice looking blaster btw. The best color scheme they ever made imo, black with the red hood. You even have yourself some nice TAG T2 fat bars and an aftermarket grab bar and front bumper.

Welcome, that is a good looking blaster. Glad to see someone taking advice before even being told lol.

First for me too, and is that a dipstick handle sticking up off the clutch cover? I haven't seen one of those either. I dont see a gasket on the intake either, but its pretty dirty. Better clean that thing up before taking anything apart.

I was in my garage cleaning this thing till 1am. I don't know how the inside of the carb was so clean, literally spotless. It had 310 jet but I changed it with the new one anyway. It now has a intake gasket , clean air filter , clean frame, connected vent tube. Today I'm going to tighten the chain and maybe see what he did for oil delete cause the lines are just cut hanging there. All I need is to finally get her out there and that plastic gear shatter. Oh and still need to leak down.

Looks like I will be bringing the quad to KOR. Starts 1st kick really easy but smokes INSANELY and sometimes the revs just shoot up like crazy and I have to hit the kill switch. I know it has to be a leak cause it runs and idles perfect. I just want it perfect so I can then take care of it.
