Ok so here the deal. I have two blasters, one with a freshly rebuilt top end, burning motor oil (have about $600 into it) and have another blaster with complete rebuilt engine, wiseco parts not even broken in or installed in the bike (about $400 in it). So I have 1000 into both bikes, and they need some work and time.

Have a buddy going to trade me a raptor 660, with 4 mill crank, titanium valves, port and polished head and supposedly is like an 800cc. The only thing wrong with it is that it needs to be jetted correctly for the mods.

Hes asking $2500 as is, if he fixes it $3000.

if I give him both bikes as is and $800 we have a deal. What do you guys think?

I still will have my original blasty....

When you get into huge engine mods with the 660s they become money pits real fast. If all the money is in the engine then you still have a top heavy pos with a fast but unreliable engine. I piped my 660 and the rest of the money is in suspension and widening it. You will spend more time wrenching on it then doing anything else. There is also no way its a 800cc with just those mods listed. What year is the 660?

Quadman knows what he is talking about. That kind of built 660 is a drag quad. Mine is a 2005 special edition. They had all the bugs worked out of them by then. I say stay away from it. Or buy it, fix it up and sell it right away and get a banshee or 250r. You will get 3 or 4 grand out of the 660 if it runs good and has some other upgrades.

Ideally, my thought was just that. Im basically buying the 660 for 1800, even if I spend 300 to 400 on some good carbs which is what it is probably missing I can sell it for 3 or 4 thousand. Or even trade it for something more reliable.

Guess I look at it as a deal. He is paying me full price for the blasters basically without them running, or complete

If it was just a simple carb mod then why did he not do it ? I would stay away from it ,like others said , money pit

I love when a seller says they'll sell for one price but if they fix the minor problem its gonna be x amount more.. y not fix and sell for more then? Probably cause there is more to the story..sounds fishy to me..I wouldn't do it..jmho

4mil hotrod crank cp stroker piston 102mm port in the head hotcams

He just told me if he ordered the jet kit, he was not going to trade. But he needs the $800 for his cashflow...

You would NEVER get $4,000 for a 660. Even 3,000 is pushing it, I see a lot lf people on my local Craigslist trying to sell worked 660s. They are asking 3-4,000. But they keep relisting it lol. If you buddy does what he said it needs done them maybe it could pay off.

Was thinking max I could get is between 2600 and 3000. I know its not worth more.

Just found out from a mutual friend that he is moving and could really use the money.

We both called our mutual friend asking him the same question. Is the deal worth it or bad?

He said that its basically an even trade. He can sell the blasters and make what he would have made. And has atleast $800 in his pocket.

And I save the hassle of putting in more time and effort to finish these two blasters.

i would stay away from it, but thats just me. who does all that work and doesnt have jets on hand to jet the bike properly? that raises a huge flag for me, how much did the crank/head work, valves ect cost, but a few dollars in jets to make it run safely and properly was out of the question lol

also, you said your blaster was just rebuilt and burning ENGINE OIL? ?? was that a typo?

2 running blasters is almost worth his quad. Especially with a fresh rebuild. Maybe a straight up trade is worth it. But then again the jetting being off you don't know what it's done. Do any quads have titles?

I would not trade. No way a 660 is worth that much! They have transmission problems when they are stock, guess what modding the motor will do?

I know you say he is your buddy, but rest assured on this. If all that is done to the motor he put a lot of money into it and is probably really curious of how it will run now. But he still hasn't bought jets. Why do you think that is? How long has it been since he did the mods? Has he ridden it since then? I wouldn't buy that bike for 1,000 dollars.

Stock parts are hard to get rid of. After aftermarket stuff is gone sales really slow down. It's because most people are like me, if it breaks upgrade it! I'm just saying no way would I pay that much for a 660.
