i would like to start racing mx but i have a 240 kit and i dont feel like buying a stock cylinder and head soooo any of you racers know of a class that a 240 can run in?

You would have to check your local tracks program to see if there is a class for the 240. You may find one but I bet you will be going against much bigger bikes. A stock cylinder is not hard to come buy and not that expensive. May be the best route.I have a few stock cylinders here that could be traded or sold.

Is it stamped 240? If not, I wouldn't worry about it a bit. Most of the classes are up to 199cc Two Stroke vs. 300-400's. I would worry about suspension before worrying about the engine.

That is deceitful, :( what ever happened to a fair go?

Get on the widening and suspension and you will have no problems dusting the 300, 400cc four pokes with a ported stock jug.

just run it the way it is, half the people out there are running bigger then 300 4 strokes in the 0-300 4 stroke class any ways. Everyone here in youth in xc doesent have anything stock, that 300 i have, used to have a sparks 350 stroker motor in it when the kid i got it off of raced it in youth. my buddy when he raced youth had a tom miller motorsports and a hillbilly racing 350 stroker motors in his 300ex.

I applaud the guy for wanting to stay honest and to the guys who said just cheat because everyone else is...shame on you all!
As for a ported stock blaster cylinder running with a built 300ex motor, NOT happening. Maybe about 6-8 yrs ago it was possible but too many serious engine builders have figured the 4 stroke out. Matter of fact a built properly hi comp raptor 250 is hard for a built blaster to run with unless you get the CT type cylinders and port the hell out of them.
If you go with a 240, most likely you will be racing 450's or maybe 250r's if there is any.
The new schoolboy mod class at atv nationals won't even let that motor in against the 250 dirtbike motors.

I am going to completely disagree with u on this I have a +4 240 stroked motor ported and a 250 is weak as hell, I roasted one with a 240 ported engine before this engine, sorry dude speaking from experience here but I have burned piped banshees with the bike I have now and roasted my buddies stock 660 raptor on the trails. Now I just have to put it back together :)

So what part do you disagree with? the part about shame on cheaters or the part about a built stock blaster won't beat 300 Hondas?
your engine is not legal in atvmx racing....maybe some outlaw run what ya brung stuff but not in organized racing.
And please tell me what MX series you race in?
Go to escore MX online scoring and tell me how many blasters you see in any of the schoolboy classes....you won't see any because they don't compete anymore. A 240 stroked +4 is not legal!!!!
I have a friend who had the best of the best in a 200cc LEGAL CT motor, pvl, ported to the max best suspension money could buy and he couldn't even break top 10 last year at Loretta's. the 300 Hondas dominate. THAT IS FACT!!!
So for this guy to race it it would be ILLEGAL ie Cheating.
That is what this thread is about not you and your buddies trail riding or drag racing.
Again, not sure what you are disagreeing with

assuming your somewhere north of 270cc. Maybe you can provide video of this beat down you put on a 250f and this banshee????

Also there are a lot of threads in here about no way a 240 blaster beats a piped banshee...some of the most knowledgeable guys on here making those statements also. I guess you must have something no one else does. But by all means please make a video so I can see this beast in action.

Well let me just say this. I have a +4 ported 240 blaster. I also have a ported and piped banshee. There is no comparison in straight line power. The banshee will maul the blaster. Trail riding is a different story. I honestly think I would be faster through the trails on the blaster. I have never ridden any other banshees. So I dont know what the comparison would be between my blaster and a piped (Unported) banshee.

The banshee is difficult to ride in the trails because the light switch powerband. The blaster has great power all the way through. All quads have a purpose. A drag car wouldn't win sprint car race.

This all started when a guy asked about mx racing a 240. I don't know of any class anywhere that allows them legally. Then someone chimed in just run it anyways because everyone cheats.
That was rediculous statement.
Then someone chimed in that his 240 +4 stroked blaster kills 250r's, raptor 660's and piped banshees....
I disagree with all three of those statements unless the other riders do not have near the same riding skills as the 240 stroked rider does.
I also know that a full built national level LEGAL 200cc blaster will not run with a full built national level 300ex especially if it is a stock yamaha cylinder!
I know a kid who had the best of the best, well over $10k in a fully MX ported CT motor with no money spared and he could not beat the 300's at Loretta's last year. I think he was 8th or 9th, all 300's in front and he is a gifted MX rider with awesome skill.
So back to original statement the guy needs to know if he surely has a 240. If so he will have to run outlaw classes but then he will be running against built 250r's and 450's and he will have no chance. DON'T CHEAT IT'S NOT WORTH IT!
Once a cheater always a cheater and you might as well stop racing.
