so last night me and my friend started taking apart his predator because 4th gear is going out, which is common according to google.

anyway to get to my point i hate them because they take sooo much time to work on, took 4 hrs to get the motor out of it, and that was working the whole time

also we found that the frame was broke all the way through in 2 places, in the same place on each side of the frame.

Never heard of 4th being a problem? hmm.. is his an older year? 03-04 possibly? and I took my engine out for the first time the other day... sure it took a long time because I had to figure out how to get it out since the have a fair size rad and the oil tank but I recon now I could get it out within an hour.. same as the blaster really though.. once upon a time you'd of looked at it and thought.. oh f*ck i dont wonna have to take that engine out!! ;)

yeah, its a 03-04 problem, yeah we are fixing the problem, and then hes gunna sell it

haha my blaster i didnt say that at all.... i was like well if i wanna paint it its coming out, and i had the whole 4 wheeler apart in like 4 hrs, and when i had it painted it was back together in maybe 2 hrs :p

Haha, the pred's I noticed the other day are c*nts to take apart the first time but once you realise how it all comes apart I was like "Ohh.. well that would of been easy if I did this like this or that this way etc"

Basically the way I would get it out is

1. Drain Oil, coolant & fuel
2. Tank and panels off
3. carb, oil and water lines off
4. cooling fan, then oil tank, then radiator
5. engine bolts, tilt it forward and it's basically out

Obviously disconnect the wiring loom when you see fit! :p

I've just got mine back together, just need to add coolant and fire it back up!

It's actually easier to build them back up or i thought so anyway! if you get stuck let me know! :)

k will do, im way ahead of your directions :p i have the head and cylinder off already, but i need a bigger wrench to continue anymore than where i am now :/

Haha goodluck! I:I I havn't yet had to take the head off mine, but it's an 06 so any teething problems they had should of been sorted out by then anyway! but yeah I suppose if your use to the blasters to work on the preds are a pain... When we got the pink blaster back home the other day I started to work on it and I did start to miss the easiness of it! ... Having the head and barrel off in about 3minutes is always a bonus! haha

lol... I can swap engines in my 450 in about 45mins by myself...

so maybe you just suck???? lol

btw....i luv 4 pokes, especially those obnoxiously loud ones.
i don't have to keep looking back to see if they're keeping up, i can hear those fart cans coming from at least a 1/4 mile lead :)

This predator is the loudest four stroke i have ever heard... Its comparable to our dodge cummins I:I

You can hear him coming 3 miles away.

Also had friends text and ask if we were riding when they lived 5 miles away

Suppose you'd see me behind you to ... just as im about to pass your for the 5th time :D

HAHA yeahhh. What does this have to do with four strokes again? It's a big bore, liquid cooled, engine in a small chassis. It will take awhile to get out. And it's a '03-'04 right? And this is the first time you've had to pull the engine.... Find a '03 Blaster that hasn't had the engine removed. But this is just info from the peanut gallery. Carry on boys!

Oh and I also agree with TJ, my 450R engine can be swapped in less than an hour if we take our time. We've done plenty of engine work in between intermission before at the races getting things tuned in. No big deal if you know what your doing.

Ya i just put a yfz450 engine in and it took about 45min. I also know that can be hiccups too. Now you know how it remove and install. The time shouldn.t take you that long now lol.
