Went to break in the bike last night and noticed the clutch wont disengage. Took the cover off today and checked all the plates and noticed that with the plates off the inner basket would not spin. Took the primary nut off and as soon as it broke loose the inner basket spun fine. Tighened it back down to 58lbs and again everthing was solid. I looked through the manual to ensure that all the parts where in the correct order and it looks correct. starting behind outter basket there is a thick smoother center washer, then a paper thin washer, the outter basket, a thick 'gear center' washer, the nut lock washer and then the nut.

Am I doing something wrong here? I spun the back tire as I tighened down the nut and the inner basket quickly stops spinning and becomes one with the outter. Help!

i never got to putting the pressure plate on, i have the manual you posted and everthing is in order. There are 2 shims though, are they needed? One is against the bearing then washer then another shim.

yes, make sure that conical washer is still "conical" and that it goes on the right way! the manual shows you this as well they are definately needed

I bet washer # 14 is too thick. An easy test is to remove it and see if the problem goes away. DON'T RUN THE QUAD LIKE THIS!!!! Just do the same test you did with the baskets. Someone may have swapped this washer out or some parts got mixed up in the rebuild.

X2. I've had this problem before on an engine I got "in a box". It turned out washer #14 was too thick. I'm not sure where the thick washer comes from but it's not supposed to be behind the clutch!

jeez this problem seems about as wacked out as that clutch basket freek brought to busco that had a modded gear on the back of it. kept my clutch from workin

that day will live in infamy. lol I have never had a day like that in my life. goes to show booze, drugs and no sleep do not mix with ridin my blasty. lol thank god for helmets

I had very little to do with the pirouette and then the superman flip into the pond.... I just got your clutch back in operation! LMAO!

this is true but i still hold you accountable! lmao jk. never seen a grown man so scared of a little gear on the back of a clutch basket in all my life. I guess if one bit me in the eye I woulda been scared too. lol

Ok, I looked over the schematic again.
Number 13, is this paper thin?
I think I have too many washers as there are 2 thick and 2 thin. Thoughts?

you need one of each as per diagram. one is paper thin but is not flat, instead it is conical, make sure it still has its shape, if not, order a new one.

Very familar!!!!!

Burnout, behind the outer basket is one thin "conical" washer and one thicker one, not two of each! Just as Blaner said.

I wanted to bring some close to the issue, seems that the guy I bought the bike from added an additional conical washer. I had my local dealer take a look at the parts and bought a new #5 washer as the one on the bike was alot thinner.
Thanks guys!
