Im fixing my friends blaster for him because it blows out white smoke and it runs not even at 1/4 power... it revs as if the the parking brake is on. He changed the gear oil so im wondering if he could have added to much?? I disconnected the parking break but it still runs as if the choke is and on warming up. It smokes alot but its white.. so its burning some kind of oil.. hes bringing it over tonight.. any things that i should check? thx

If there is too much oil it will spill over out the crankcase breather tube I would change it to be safe though 650ml. First thing I'd check is compression though ... then leakdown. I'd also drain all the gas and gear oil and replace all with fresh at the right levels but don't waste your time till compression/leak-down test is complete and clear

I dont know where the hell to get a compression tester... If you try to push the kickstarter with your hand its hard... so I know it has some compression...

White smoke is caused by the burning of transmission fluid, overfilling could be the problem.

When the motor gets hot pressure builds up in the gearbox and oil can be forced past the crank seal into the motor.

Check the level of oil and also see if the breather is clear.

The black spooge coming from the exhaust could be the result of the extra transmission oil in the system.

Check what type of 2 stroke oil is being used, as the wrong oil can cause exssive spooge.

You need to get a leak down test performed to confirm that the crank seal is not leaking.

Drain the oil out of the trans. He probably put in a whole quart. It takes just over a half a quart. 750 ml I believe. It is written on the side of the case so double check that number. It might have built up too much pressure in the case if he overfilled it and caused him to blow a seal.

If you have basic tools the seal is a reasonably easy and cheap fix.

The seal may not be damaged, but you should have a leak down test performed just to make sure.

White smoke = bad crank seal 99% of the time.
Need to pull the clutch cover off and do a leaktest. I'll bet its leaking out the right side seal.

Ill do a leak down test if it continues to run the way it does after i change the tranny oil..... Will honda gn4 10w40 be ok in the tranny? It says its ok for all 2 stroke honda motorcycle gearboxes & transmissions...

Providing it has no friction modifiers i should be OK.

If you drain the oil and re fill to the correct level, and the seal is not damaged, it should run OK.

It may take a while for the white smoke to go away as there will be some residual oil in the crank case.

It would be a good idea to leak test to see if the seal is good, because if it is bad you may suck air which can result in a lean fuel mixture.

That lean mix can cause problems $$$$$$$$$$$.

GN4 oil will be fine. Thats what I run. It has no friction modifiers, so you're good there. Once you get the oil level back to where it needs to be, I strongly recommend doing a leak down test. But if you dont, just remember that draining off the excess oil may or may not have solved your problem.
