ok, so i blew up my blaster 3 times within 14 hours of riding, the last one lasted like 15 mins. im fixin it and sellin it and gettin a 250f dirtbike, screw damn 2 strokes, i cant keep em runnin cause i run em 2 hard. i blew up my rm80 like every other time i went ridin 2 so im goin to fourstrokes

Ok, first, I have to ask what your definition of "blow up" is.

Second, if you're causing any engine damage to a blaster, in that short of a time period, there's something else involved other than you just riding it hard. We've had all kinds of 2 strokes, many that were poorly maintained, including blasters, and we would beat the crap out of them all day for years and years, and never had one come apart without something else going wrong to cause it (like running too lean or not mixing the oil right). To me it sounds like either you're doing something horribly wrong when you're rebuilding it, your jetting is way off, your oil is mixed wrong, or something like that. Blasters are one of the most reliable, indestructible 2 strokes out there.

And if you think that you're going to have better luck with that 250f simply because it's a 4 stroke, I LAUGH IN YOUR FACE!!! 4 strokes are no more reliable than 2 strokes, especially when you're pushing them to their limits, and there's a lot more to go wrong. Seems that you're either frustrated and aren't thinking about what your're saying, or you're just horribly misinformed.

sounds to me like user error!

I have rode my blaster for years harder than most can imagine... you do know you have to shift right? 3 motors all within days and only lasting 15 minutes. that or you need to find someone who knows how to build that motor.

Your not alone man. My blaster blew p on me and the pison went int the ottom endso I had it professionally rebuilt, ater two hours of breaking in the new top and bottom end, something in the tranny broke. That got fixed, and I continued to break in the motor. After another few hours of rin, the crankshaft seals are leaking really bad and blowing out all kinds of smoke. the guy offers no kind of warranty so cant get it fixed for free. I have had the quad for 3 months an spent over one grand and have not got to ride it once besides riding around my yard. Definately the worst quad I have ever owned.

blaster are the most reliable 2 stroke out there if u guys are f*ckin blowin them up every 15mins and having problems u cant be rebuilding it right and u say professional just cause they work at a shop dont make them professional..u got a problem way deeper then just slapping a piston in it mixin gas and riding the hell out of it u have to break a 2stroke in or it wont last long..and for the guy that had it so called professionaly rebuilt u had a piston come apart it went into the bottom end and your professional probably didnt clean it out good...anyways not to go all dickhead on u guys..but maintaince is key to keeping anything up and running good..ask for help im sure guys on here well walk u through everything u need to know

When I got mine the guy I bought it off of had been racing it flat track and it had been rebuilt several times I ran the heck out of it until i scatterd the trany when I rebuilt it I put in A +3 crank and a 240 kit (both from vitos and both are worthless) broke it in with the govener set at half throttle for about 3-4 hrs then opened it up that was last year ive been pushing it pretty hard since and had no problems yet

think of it this way you may have to rebuild a 2-stroke more often but its easier and a whole lot cheaper to rebuild than a 4-stroke
"fast ain't fast unless theres oil in the gas"

i blew up my blaster 3 times within 14 hours of riding" how can you and why would your ride your blaster after it blew the first time, if you cannot manage a two stroke that well, your prob gonna come into difficulties when you need to maintain a 4 stroke since i see you are not taking care of it. you just can't take it out of your shed and rip it up each time and not maintain it for a year

Like the above post, good luck with a 250f if you can destroy 3 blaster motors in 14 hours. I have a 250f and 2 2-strokes, and the 250f is definately the hardest to maintain.

i guentee noone rides as hard as i do.. i go out on my track for a full day.. never stop.. it gets pretty hot but my engine can handle it.. i dont have that much done but still i ride my blasty hard as hell

aiight bitches, for one thing my dad knows more about motors than most people. we have rebuilt all of my quads and bikes many times, and cars for that matter. the last one blew up because i just got it homed and put an old piston in it and it had little compression so we tried to lean it out a little by turnin the air/fuel screw out a few turns and took the airbox lid off because it was runni rich due to little compression and it was runnin fine. i was breakin it in when it blew up. the time before that i got it bored and a new piston in it and BROKE IT IN and it was just runnin a lil lean and after ridin all day hard it finally overheated and siezed it up. the last time was just a $20 fix cause i got the hone for free and i used an old piston i had from before that wasnt in bad shape so it was just sumthin to try. i do keep my blaster maintained good and keep it tuned well exept the last time when it was lean cause i just broke it in and when i came home i put on a new air filter and reeds in and didnt change the jet(my fault). guys( and girls) i just cant keep 2 strokes runnin and im out of money to keep fixin it all the time. i also want somethin a little faster to keep up with the guys i ride with cause tehy all run fast 4 strokes and its kinda hard to keep up. idk, i might stick with it if you guys say that they are the most "reliable" 2 stroke. im just tired of puttin money into it, i clean the air filter after every other ride depending on the conditions, change the oil after every ten or so hours. it still has the oil injecter on it and its workin fine so idk what im doin wrong. i think you guys talked me back into keepin it but idk. it depends on what i can get for it or if someone will trade me.

oh yeah, and to all the f*ckers sayin "upshift" i shift when im supposed to and i use the clutch every time so I love you and you dont know how i ride so shut the f*ck up and no i dont have any videos of me ridin. why the f*ck do you care anyways what i do and what i get next

i dont see why you come on here calling everyone "bitches" and "assholes" just cause they said shift!! if you dont like what their tellin you then take your shifter you dont know how to use and ram it up your ass, hop on your 250f and ride that SOB over a cliff!!! all they where trying to do is help you, and you go ape sh*t and get all defensive!!! now if you want help just ask, dont flame all the other members on here for trying to help..thats f*cked up...they are here for help and to help others just like the rest of us!!!!

yeah but them bein ass holes tellin me how to shift dosent go over wel with me, i hate people tellin me how to ride, why dont you go biotch at them for being assholes telling me how to shift, i have been ridin quads since i was five, i think i know how to shift, i didnt mean to go off like that but the whole thing just pissed me off

Just a thought but new parts are always a good idea for any rebuild. No point in making a weak link for saving a few bucks may not have anything to do with it but... just a thought

hey blaster82 i'm sorry to hear about your blaster blowing up after each rebuild but i just wanted to say that if you get a 4 stroke you will be doing oil changes and other things the parts are also expensive. maybe when you get a 4 stroke of your choice you could keep the blaster as something to putt around on or something to ride if the 4 stroke broke something? because a blaster these days is not worth as much as they used to be. hell i can't get much out of mine either

may i suggest takin off the oil injector since it was runnin lean then rich i would say it isnt workin like it should maybe thats why u keep blowing it up

Never run anything lean. Always run rich, then slowly go down one jet at a time until your plug looks brownish. I bet they all blew because you were running lean and didn't realize it until later.

Edit: bigd I think he is saying it was lean on gas, not oil.

yea it was runnin lean but thats just because im a dumbass and didnt rejet afterputtin a new air filter and reeds in, my fault. and my dad is bein a dick and wont let me take the oil injector off because he says it still works fine but i dont trust it and im gonna be the one payin for it when it blows up again, oh and by the way to whoever asked my definition to blown up is top end blown up meaning it dosent run anymore(seized sometimes). and to dirtyblaster i cant keep the blaster if i get a 250 because as i said before i dont have any money

If you were having trouble from running lean, which is what seems like the case, you can't blame the blaster for that. Running lean is one of the worst things you can do to a 2 stroke, especially during the break-in period. I bet if you get it jetted right, rebuild it right with new, quality parts, break it in gently, and continue to do the regular preventative maintenance stuff you'll never have a problem with it again.

It seems like the type of 2-stroke oil you use can have an effect on it as well. I have a neighbor with an 88 blaster that's still on all the original motor components, never had to to as much as replace the rings. He's ran golden spectro premix in it since they day that he bought it in 88, at a 50:1 ratio, and he doesn't go easy on it either. He swears by golden spectro, and refuses to put anything else in his machine.

I'm not saying to run golden spectro, but if you're running some low-end walmart oil right now, it might be a good idea to step up to a better quality oil.
