I think different than most guys on here when it comes to gearing. I ride mostly in the woods on a stock pipe blaster. I run a 20 tires and a 12-42 gear. No I can't run 55 on the high way but in the woods my stock pipe blaster pulls like you wouldn't believe. I never use 6th gear in the woods...

Grinding can never be good. Are you sure it is not something vibrating on the bike creating a harmonic effect?

If it is only going to get to 20 degrees I wouldn't worry. Just ride like you normally would.

Did you sleeve the inside of the swing arm? I have considered doing mine myself and I was planning to sleeve it first.

My bike would be the opposite set up. Stock engine completely, banshee axle, flipped front wheels, works front shocks, 400ex rear, steering stabilizer, 12-42 gearing. Works great for tight stuff. Sucks for high speed open areas.
