These old yz's didn't have a ground, it has connections for the coil, stator and killswitch. The stator might be grounding to the engine, but I already checked that, I sanded the case and the back of the plate to have clean metal showing. It could be inconsistent spark but wouldn't it not run...

Just a little update. I've had it running a few more times now, still having the hardest time getting it started. My dirt bike buddy is the only one who can do it, his kicks flow into each other. 2003, fmf fatty, K&N Filter, mild port, just rebuilt the top end. It won't rev pass idle, it just bogs. Jetting is at 35 and 290. Kicking compression is 130 and it passed a leakdown with flying colors. Went to a 32.5 didn't change anything. TORS is deleted following the guide on here. Tried...
