    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

Turns out people have chicken legs around here lol. I was the only 1 strong enough to kick over my blaster to start it.... After changing a resistor, everyone could start it, but that caused problems. Went back to the drawing board twice since then. I've got simulations now. Currently, I'm...

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

I just ponied up the cash to get some early production circuits professionally made. I've got 25 selectable curves. Oem blaster is included in the mix :) I have solder all the rebate stuff. Incredibly time consuming. These will have 90% done by a machine for me :) There's still work to be...

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

Looking to send out a few prototypes for select riders to test. We should have some news before 7-25-22. 6 years since the first post on this. Wow - I'm a slacker lol. I did read through all the comments and this thread a few minutes ago. The Tecate CDI was shrunk down considerably before...

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

It's been a bit since I've looked at this post. I've got to rebuild my blaster motor(sucked sand at the dunes), then get back to testing. I've got several protypes for this currently. The Tecate CDI is doing very well. It was used in a Race recently and the machine took first.

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

I've made progress on the design. I've also picked up an adjustable stator plate. Now I need to port the top end and reassemble.

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

The lay out can be made smaller. Currently they are designed on the same pcb I did the tecate CDI on. I've revised and remade and revised and remade. I did deliberately leave it larger(It's still small overall). It'll be much easier to tap into for the next part. The tune-ability of these...

How long do you ride before letting the engine cool off?

Well the answer to the question depends on how long before it blows up or runs out of gas :-D

    Back firing

Check your jetting. Perform a leakdown. What your timing at?

    Building an Adjustable/Tune able CDI

I've got a CDI built, but would like to test it on a machine with an adjustable stator plate. Is there anyone in the Wichita KS area that would be down for some testing? This CDI is based heavily off my Tecate CDI design(almost the same set up). I figured tossing the blaster CDI and starting...

What's the differnce between Hot Shot Series CDI Box or advancing your timing

I'm not sure were sicivicdude was with his PIC, but he is correct, AC-CDIs can only retard timing, not advance. Max timing is set at the stator/flywheel, the CDI can only retards timing from there. The CDI cannot increase spark voltage. That is done at 2 places. The source coil on the...

    Ignition curve

They are still in the developmental stage. When i get one going that is adjustable, or at least may better suit your needs, I'll hit you up. I hope by the end of August, I'll have something worth looking showing. As for stators, very easy to rewind. Ohm it out, and see what it shows. If...

    Ignition curve

The things go almost 20° advance off idle. The CDIs for these are incredibly horrible. I'm looking into creating a tuneable cdi. I'vestarted a thread about it under my name. It also covers ignition curves you are dealing with. For the issues you are having with your ignition timing, check...

Whats the fastest quad your Blaster has beaten?

Lightly modded raptor 700r. It also out paced my heavily modified Tecate 3.

    carb or exhaust?

I'd hit up the mods in this order. Timing advance, Pipe, Port, Carb, Reeds, Head. I'd keep the flywheel stock(because im fat). That additional torque when shifting through the gears is nice. It has a lot more inertia, there for it will keep your rpms higher when you shift. It does take a...
