Bit of an update for you all.. Quad is running like a boss. On a recent trip I actually broke the front radiator off, decided that wasn't a good fit on the quad and grabbed a set of original radiators and grills. Shoehorned them under the front fenders, somehow. Haven't had any issues with that...

That is absolutely not true, like, at all. At least if you decide to run an FMF. I've got a gnarly on mine, and with some creative maneuvering you're able to rotate the pipe into the stock chassis. Pardon the messy garage.

I'm not much of a structural engineer but I'm not sure where else sees much stress? The rear is already stout for the swingarm, the bottom mount is a full width C channel bar with vertical tabs, and the front mounts have 2"x1/8th" plate gussets down to the lower frame rail.

Recovery! New top end was installed, along with a new clutch side crank seal. No play in either crank bearing was able to be detected. The repair to the crank with the new threads has been a complete success as well. I ended up tossing that ebay carb into a box and buying a new used 98 YZ250...

Disaster! Was doing tuning work and somehow managed to shear my woodruff key off and managed to strip out the threads on the crankshaft. However, i was able to turn down the diameter of the thread shaft and cut new threads at a 3/8-16 thread pitch (no metric tap and die set on hand). So that...

Update for tonight. Added expanded metal to the back of the grill to prevent debris from being redirected into the radiator, and cleaned off the spatter. Looks great now. I also got the coil mounted, coolant lines run and chain installed. Home stretch!
