I just picked up an all original 91 Blaster (as you may have seen with some other, unrelated threads). This thing has hardly ever had a wrench turned on it, but I discovered yesterday that the headlight doesn't work. To be more specific…it doesn't always work. It seems to turn off and on...

I know this is an old thread but I searched and found it. Is there anything to be gained by removing the airbox lid with the STOCK PIPE?

I did enough googling and finally found that these are NOT genuine Mikuni jets. The “RD” marked jets are manufactured by EBC brakes. Weird. Supposedly these are just as good as the real deal but I’m still skeptical.

I may look into a pipe that will mate up to the stock silencer. Will I gain anything by ditching the airbox lid with the stock pipe? If not I’ll just keep it...I assumed it chokes up even an otherwise factory setup. Maybe not?

These jets most definitely do not have any other markings. I didn’t give it too much thought because I assumed a dealer would only stock the real thing. I’ve googled it every which way I can think of and can’t really find anything definitive. However I’m leaning toward these being fake.

I’m only at a few hundred feet elevation and am targeting 60* temps, BTW.

I found a pivotworks kit on Ricky mountain that says it replaces the bushings with needle bearings. Anyone have any experience with this?
