The pics aren't that clear. Looks like blue stuffing blocks on crank? If so that's a vitos +3 crank. Looks kinda ruff from the pics.
That piece of metal looks to me like it could be from. One of the big end rod thrust washers? Can. You post some clearer pics?

There should be a thrust washer on both sides of rod on big end. Are they both there?

Posted some better pictures there! It’s kind of hard to see in there I’m not sure what the washers are that you are talking about.

Looks like a serious lack of lubrication?
Wristpin bearing is completely dry.

The thrust washers are on the connecting rod big end (crankshaft end) that round piece of metal you were wondering where it came from. It one of those thrust washers more than likely.
I can only see one in the pics. It keeps the connecting rod from rubbing on the crank halves. I think that crank has had it? It looks ruff.

so my question at this point is, do you think if I replace the top end, get it back together and try to start it will it start and run? Really didn’t wanna have to work on the bottom end right now. Would it last for awhile? I definitely see that it only has one washer in at the crankshaft end.

With the thrust washer missing the big end is going to be moving all over the place. Side clearance limit is around .028-.032 maybe? Or close to that if i remember correctly? That crank is toast. How much up an down play on the rod? That lower bearing can't be good if it chewed up the thrust.
You will have major damage if not fixed.

gotcha I’m just gonna have to get a new crankshaft kit then. How extensive is changing those out? I have to split the entire motor open don’t I?

The cases will have to be split. That looked like a vitos crank you have With the blue stuffing blocks?
Are you premixing the gas ? If so at 32:1?
Was straight gas run?

I premix 32:1 with ams-oil dominator 2 stroke engine oil, I’m not sure exactly what crankshaft is in there I bought the quad about 2 years ago from Facebook market. Whoever had it before me did a lot of aftermarket stuff to it. Not sure what though. I haven’t done any work to the engine since I bought it and I’ve never worked on engines before so this is Will be interesting. Can you change the crankshaft without having to get new gaskets for the clutches and crankcase/Kickstarter? All of the work I have done to the quad, I have just read the manual and done exactly what it says to do.

Did you already buy a top end gasket kit?
If not you can get a. Quality complete gasket kit with seals.
Case halves don't use a gasket. You use yamabond 4, or 3bond. Do not use silicon.
Also new crank = new bearings and seals

I got a weisco top end kit from eBay for about 200 bucks! I was going to get the weisco crankshaft I think it’s 200 bucks as well to match it, it comes with all the gaskets and parts to install it. Here’s a picture of it

Also here’s the crankshaft kit I was going to buy once I get more money, will I need anything else? Or will these two kits be all I need to get it repaired and running? So I just split the case in two take out the old shaft and replace it with this kit? Then seal the halves back up and then install the pistons right? Then I will be good to go?

Yamabond 4 or 3bond.
Flywheel puller
Case spliter. Some use a steering wheel puller
Crank. Puller/ installer. Or freeze the crank
And heat inner bearing race with indirect heat and crank will fall. In bearings.
But everything has to be ready you don't have alot of time. This way
Just some things to think about
Read your manual and get informed ahead of time so you will be familiar with the process.
Caes can be split from stator side also when just installing crank and bearings.
But then the crank puller/ installer comes in handy as there is no rush as with heat .

With the proper tools/ and or common sense which it sounds like you have . you should be fine. They are a pretty easy Motor to work on.
You already have a head start with the manual.
That's why the forum is here.
Any questions ask. We all help each other:)

Haha thanks! I have to save up some more money for the crankshaft and some tools I will need before I can open the bad boy up but I definitely will Post as soon as I get into it. For now time to paint the plastics and clean up the frame and give that some new paint!

It is the perfect time. To clean everything up

Clean motor good before disassembly.
