northwest ohio
hey guys was just wondering if anyone that has a 240 big bore what pilot and main jet sizes they were running. i know altitude makes a diff. but i dont know what mine is i live in northwest ohio. was hoping i could get some ideas from someone that lives kinda close to my area. im running a 240 set up for pump gas and a 35mm pwk carb. and my current jetting is 55 pilot and 170 main. any help would be great.

I'm not real sure what my pilot is (wanna say around a 42) but for my 35mm carb and vito's 240 kit, I'm running a 150 main

I'm running a 52 pilot and 160 main and that's running very rich for safety. I'd say a 45-50 pilot and 150 main is more in the ballpark of fine tuning.

just wondering but do you two rickstricks and 245 storker live in areas where the altitude is high? because i dont think those jets would work for mine. i live in the "flat lands" nothing but cows and fields. lol

I'm in Arizona at about 2500 feet, but altitude is not the only factor. Weather conditions and air density play a big part. I'm guessing it's still pretty cold over there so your probably going to run larger jets than I would although I'm running mine very rich at a 160.

where i live im at 762 ft and yes it still is pretty cold over here. the reason i was asking about this is when im at wide open throttle in 6th gear i can hear a high pitched pinging sound coming from the engine, and was wondering if it was maybe because i was running a little lean on the main jet. i had a 165 in it and changed it to a 168 and it did get better, but was slightly thier still and was pretty sure that if i went to a 170 it would take care of it. so i was just kind of curious as to what other people were running that lived near my area.

If it's pinging, then yes, it does sound like it's running lean. Better to be safe than sorry. I'd go big and work your way back if you have the jets to do so.

I'm in Tucson Arizona and I have a 40mm pwk carb and my quad ran pretty good so I thought but then I took the pwk carb off and put the stock blaster carb on it and it sucks for acceleration but man once it gets in 3rd it takes off so my question is how do I get it to run how does in third with the stock carb with my pwk carb without any idle problems or acceleration problems and by the way it's a 240 big bore kit on it also

Not understanding your question exactly. Was it not running good enough with the 40mm? That’s quite a jump down to a 26mm. More info on rest of setup might help . Actually starting your own thread might be best, your choice

40mm carb might be alittle big?
